Morphometric Analysis of Sagittal Otoliths in Coruh Trout (Salmo coruhensis Turan, Kottelat & Engin, 2010)

The Coruh trout (Salmo coruhensis Turan, Kottelat & Engin, 2010) is a freshwater fish species endemic to Turkey. This study describes the allometric relationships between sagittal otolith (sagitta) measurements and total length (TL) of collected from Çam stream (Artvin, Turkey), length-weight relationship. A 82 individuals were caught with an electroshock device May 2017 April 2018. (LO), height (HO), weight (WO), perimeter (PO), area (AO) recorded for each specimen. Shape indices such as shape factor, aspect ratio, circularity, roundness, rectangularity, ellipticity, surface density calculated using these measurements. Relationships variables somatic growth defined by curvilinear function (power model). An analysis covariance revealed that did not differ left right sides, females males. All regressions highly significant (P < 0.001) mean percent prediction error values less than 7 %. LO, HO, WO, PO against TL negative allometric, while TL-AO relationship was positive allometric. In TL, form rectangularity decreased growth. contrast, circularity increased body length. obtained W = 0.0155*TL2.87 overall samples. difference slopes LWRs males found insignificant. provides first comprehensive data on morphometry S. coruhensis.
